What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program that helps ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve academic success. It provides additional support in reading, math, and other areas for students who need it most.

Title I is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and is designed to provide extra resources to schools to support student learning. It helps close achievement gaps and ensures that all students meet challenging state academic standards.

Our Schools’ Title I Programs

Schoolwide Programs:
In schools where all students benefit from Title I resources, programs are designed to improve the overall educational program. Strategies may include small-group instruction, reading/math interventions, and professional development for teachers.

Parent & Family Engagement

Title I encourages strong partnerships between families and schools. Parents can:

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and workshops.

  • Learn strategies to support learning at home.

  • Provide input on school improvement plans and programs.

School-Parent Compact:
All Title I schools have a compact outlining responsibilities for students, parents, and schools to work together to improve student learning.

How Title I Funds are Used

Title I funds support programs and services that:

  • Provide additional academic support in reading and math

  • Fund instructional materials

  • Support professional development for staff

  • Offer enrichment activities and extended learning opportunities
