What is Aspen?

Aspen refers to the district's Student Information System (SIS). Parents and Guardians have access to their children's information through their parent portal accounts for Aspen. Through Aspen, parents can see the following:

Assignment grades and term grades.
Student attendance history
Student medical & nursing visit history
Document folder, including all official report cards, IEPs, and IEP progress reports

Don't Forget Annual Requirements!

Every year parents/guardians are required to update their information in Aspen through the Family Connection, which allows changes such as address and contact updates, changes to medical history, and the approval of annual forms.

Announcing Aspen Go

Follett Aspen Go is an app that gives parents, guardians, and students straightforward access to Aspen. Real-time grade, attendance, and scheduling information can be found in the app in a clean interface.

You can also access the full Aspen site with the click of a button.

You will need to select Nantucket Public Schools when you first log in.

Logging In To Aspen

Please refer to the right-hand image for help logging in.

Anyone with an Aspen account can change the display language by clicking button #1.
All parent/guardians should have a Login and Password. Parent/guardians new to the district will be sent an email from Aspen with login information.
If you forgot your username or password, click "Trouble Logging In" to recover your forgotten information.
If you have a Google account, you may be able to select "Login with Another Provider" and sign in with that account, provided it is the account on record in Aspen.

Annual Verification

About

Every year, parents and guardians are asked to verify information for all of children at NPS. The schools need the most current medical records and permission for all students. This process is not the registration process; parents do not need to re-enroll their child(ren) each year, unless the students were formally withdrawn.

Parents are also required to complete the district technology form. This form is not in the Family Connection page. Please click this link to find the Tech form on our website.

Forms can be found on the Family Connection. Parents must log in to the Aspen Parent Portal to access the Family Connection. We ask all parents/guardians to complete this process before the start of the school year.

Parents/Guardians will provide the following information during the verification process:

Parent/Guardian contact information and physical and mailing address
Parent/Guardian Preferred contact language
Updated medical information
Permission slips and authorization forms
- Student Directory Information Authorization
- Media Release
- On-Island Field Trip Permission Slip
- Regular Bus Transportation Authorization Form

USING A CHROMEBOOK OR COMPUTER IS THE BEST WAY TO COMPLETE THESE FORMS. DEVICES ARE AVAILABLE AT ALL SCHOOLS AND THE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR COMPLETING FORMS.

Step 1: Login to Aspen

Step 2: Get to Family Connection

Click Verify & Update - you will need to do this for every child

3. Change your preferred language if desired.

4. Edit fields that are not grayed out if desired.

Fields that are greyed out are not editable by parents from within the Family Connection.

5. Click NEXT to move to the second page.

Step 4: Complete the Forms

All the required forms are listed on the left hand side. Click on a form name to complete that form.
Change the language at the top of the form, if necessary.
Some fields are already filled in and can only be changed by submitting a tech ticket.
Other fields may need to be updated. You can type directly into most of these fields or click the EDIT button, as shown in the next image.
Click Next to move to next form on the list.

Step 5: Change Parent/Guardian Information

1. Some forms have incorrect information listed. To edit some of these fields, you will need to click the Edit button.

*After you click the Edit button, a new screen appears.

2. Simply type the updated information into the boxes on the new screen.

3. Click Next to complete the next form

* If your mailing address is a PO box, we also need your physical address.

4. Sort by Upload Date by clicking on the Upload Date header.

You may need to click more than once until the arrow next to the header is facing downwards. This will allow you to view the most recent report card near the top of the list.

5. Click on the black document box with a down arrow to download the document as a PDF.

You will need to open the PDF from either the bottom left of your screen or your downloads folder.

Viewing Attendance and Grades

Review Student Attendance History

attendance history broken down by daily for single day current week and grade term

The Attendance will list a breakdown summary of absences, tardies, and dismissals by day, week, and grade term.

Some schools also take attendance for each class (usually middle- and high-school levels).

Excused absences, tardies, and dismissals are for reasons like medical appointments, illness, legal reasons, or post-secondary university visits.

Unexcused absences are for unreported absences or travel for reasons other than those mentioned above.

Updating User Options

Update User Options

Changes to your settings and preferences can be completed in user options, accessed in the upper right menu.

You can also view the Full Site (web version) of Aspen from this menu.

Change account settings

Update your language preferences for viewing information within the app from User Settings.

You can also reset your password and security questions from this menu.

NOTE: Changing language settings only changes information in this app. If you wish to receive correspondence from the school in a different language, please contact your child's front office.
