Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Laura Ubaldino

I was raised in a strict Italian household where food, family, education, and travel were the center of my existence. Over the years these values have become ingrained into my very being. I hold four degrees, work as a personal chef in the summer, and travel as much as I can. My first degree was a BA in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Philosophy from Suffolk University. My second degree was in Elementary Education from Framingham State. Later, I became a certified chef through Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in 2003. Lastly, six years after moving to Nantucket, I received my master’s degree in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities) as well as becoming certified in Orton Gillingham (specialized reading program) at the associate level. Furthermore, because the school year ends in June, I am fortunate enough to work as a personal chef in the summer time for a few seasonal families on the island. Cooking for others is a true passion. It is hard work, but it is well worth it when the room falls silent and the smiles grow on people's faces after taking their first bites. Lastly, I have been blessed with the love for travel. Since I was a child I have been able to drive cross country twice, live in Ecuador as a volunteer worker, travel to Canada several times, and spend time in Italy, Holland, and Iceland. I love children and working as a special education teacher in the third grade at Nantucket Intermediate School.
