Mrs. Rebecca Hickman

I began my teaching career on Nantucket in 1996 as a Teaching Assistant in the 8th grade at the Cyrus Peirce Middle School. Taking advantage of all courses being taught on Nantucket and the Cape, I was able to earn my licensure for teaching English in grades 5-8. I became the 8th grade English Arts Teacher after taking over an emergency leave, a position I held for three years. After taking a 6 year sabbatical to stay home with my two young boys, I returned to the classroom teaching 6th grade English Language Arts. During this time I earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Fitchburg University. I began to take courses through Cambridge College in order to earn my Library teacher certification, which I will complete in the spring of 2019.  In the fall of 2018, I was lucky enough to be offered my dream job of the CPS Library Teacher.

I have lived on Nantucket year round since 1990, after summering here for the majority of my childhood. In my spare time, I can be found either at the ice rink watching my boys play hockey, or at the beach with a book.
