As the 6th grade writing teacher, I am fortunate to have the opportunity help students learn to express themselves with language. Over the course of the year students will practice the basics of narrative, persuasive, and informational writing, as well as grammar and sentence composition. After majoring in English for my bachelor’s degree, I went on to earn my master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2014. Currently I hold initial licensure in grades 5-8 and 8-12 English and History. Prior to teaching 6th grade in my hometown of Nantucket, I taught 8th grade ELA in Scituate, MA for two years. I enjoy teaching the middle grades because it is such a unique and endlessly entertaining age group. Teaching was always my dream job, and I feel very lucky to get to do that here on our beautiful island.
