Ms. Maura Wendelken

Welcome to the CPS Art Studio! My name is Maura Wendelken and I am a multi-media artist from Nantucket. I earned my BFA in Photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. MassArt's multi-disciplinary approach to their program has influenced my style of teaching. As both an artist and teacher, my greatest inspirations are the nature on island, our community, and my family.

In the CPS Art Studio, students will work with drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography. Brainstorming techniques, teamwork, and experimentation are an important part of our classroom. These approaches prepare my students for visual arts practices as well as other areas of interest and study. In visual arts classes I think it is important to have students engaging in creating as quickly as possible. I am always fine tuning lessons to build student engagement, confidence, and independence.
