Dear NHS Students, Parents, and Community Members,

To say that I am excited to be here at Nantucket High School would be an understatement! As I have walked through the building this morning, I keep asking myself “Am I dreaming?” I am truly impressed with the school and the great things I have seen in just a few short hours. I cannot wait to meet each of you and welcome you to school in the fall.

As you know, returning to school in the fall will be a huge undertaking, plans that are already being discussed with the Nantucket administrative team on the DESE Guidelines. We will be closely monitoring the newly released Initial Fall School Reopening Guidance. As much as we want to be back to regular classes for all of our students, our first priority will be the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. You will be able to assist us in our planning. In the next couple of weeks, a survey will be going out to families asking for your input regarding your child’s experience with remote learning. Your response will be invaluable to our planning process for the fall opening of school. We’ll make sure that you have plenty of notice of this survey.

Each week I’ll be sending out a weekly bulletin. This will have information to help keep you updated with our planning for the upcoming school year but also a way for us to get to know each other. I’ll share one fun fact about me, and I’ll ask you to share some fun facts about you! A little later in July, I am planning to have a Meet and Greet evening when we will have the opportunity to talk and get to know each other better.
