Dr. Amy A Hinson
Although I am not trained as a teacher, I find great joy in teaching science. Science is a way of thinking, and learning how to learn science is a challenge for every student. I am a researcher by trade and have degrees in Biochemiistry and Molecular Biophysics. I have had the honor of researching aspects of neurodegenerative diseases under the supervision of the director of Neurosurgery at Yale University.
After moving to the island, I settled into a completely different role and became stay at home mom to four children. When my oldest child was a senior (2015/2016), I took on the challenge of teaching. I teach Biology, Anatomy & Phsiology, and Forensic Science, and though the career change was challenging, I thoroughly enjoy being with the students and witnessing their educational growth.
