Mrs. Courtney Foster

Hello! 

Welcome to my webpage!  My name is Courtney Foster and I am one of the three School Counselors here at Nantucket High School.  My caseload consists of students with the last name beginning with G-M.  This is my 9th year working here at NHS!  

I grew up in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts and attended Sacred Heart University in Connecticut where I was a member of the Pioneer Field Hockey team.  I was originally planning on becoming a physical therapist, but as many college students end up doing, I changed my major! I have always loved helping people, so it was only natural for me to work with students and their families as they navigate their way through high school!  I attended Springfield College for my Master's degree in School Counseling.  After graduating, I worked at Peabody Veteran's Memorial High School for five years before making my way to Nantucket.

We in the Guidance office are here to make sure that every child gets the most out of their four years here at NHS.  We meet with students individually and as groups to meet students needs in every step of the way. Our goal is that when every student graduates, he or she has a plan in place.  Whether that plan includes a four-year college, a vocational or technical school, a gap year, employment, etc…. We just hope that everyone has explored their opportunities and has made the choice that is best for them!

I live here on the island with my husband, Jamie, my 2 young boys and the best Golden Retriever you will ever meet, Izzy.
