Mr. Mike Girvin

I have been teaching in the Nantucket Public Schools since 1995. I am currently teaching in the high school wood shop. Prior to that, I was a teacher at Nantucket Elementary School. I was born in Canada. After finishing high school, I attended York University in Toronto, Ontario where I finished my bachelor's degree in English. I moved to Nantucket in 1987 after summering here as a child. I joined a construction crew where I learned the trade of carpentry. In 1993 I returned to school at the University of Maine where I finished my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. It was after graduating that I returned to Nantucket and began my career as a teacher. I went back to school in 2000, earning my Master's in Education at Lesley University in Cambridge, Ma.
